The Faculty of AgriSciences at Stellenbsch University is ranked the best in Africa and amongst the top 50 in the world. And according to the Shanghai University Rankings per Subject, the Department of Food Science maintained its position on in the 51-75 category and remains the only South African Food Science Department to feature in the top 300 and the only one in Africa to feature in the top 200.

The Faculty is also the only university that offers degree programmes in Viticulture and Oenology (Grape-and Wine Sciences) and Forestry and Wood Science in South Africa. It has 11 departments that includes Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Animal Science, Conservation Ecology and Entomology, Food Science, Forest and Wood Science, Genetics, Horticultural Science, Plant Pathology, Soil Science and viticulture and Oenology.
